Black and white and chic all over

Hey y’all, I hope you’re doing well. This is one of those looks with so many contrasting elements it could have gone bad really quickly, leather pants, peter pan collar, converse… So many different trends can be tricky to mix and match without looking like you tried too hard. My secret to trying this “trent on trend” style is to stay monochromatic, and think “chic”, anything that steps out even a little, you should scrap.

In other news,

Roger, my amazing boyfriend is building me my own closet/office where our dining room should be… We have a small condo, (Roger would disagree) and he’d be right if it was being used for it’s original purpose, “Bachelor Pad”, however, adding me, and all my stuff, and I have a lot of stuff has been tricky for both of us. Yes I have taken over his walk-in-closet and most of the bathroom but I still feel like I don’t have my own space and he feels like he’s lost all of his. Our dining room area has always been evolving… When I first arrived on the scene it was a DJ booth… yes really. Then it was storage closets and a desk area, then it was empty for a while, then we built a fort with a full sized bed on top and storage underneath which never got fully finished. The unfinished storage has proven pretty useless and we don’t have overnight guests as often as we once did.. So, Roger suggested that we make it into a large closet/ office for me and only me. I can make it however I want it- I can have my own design aesthetic, my own paint color, my own layout and I will finally be able to get my crafting supplies out of storage after 2 years of hibernation. I AM SO EXCITED! Although it sounds like I will have a big huge space, this stuff used to fill my old apartment so I need to find creative ways to organize, and make the most out of my space.

Because of the challenges and excitement ahead I was recently looking for some inspirational TV to watch. When did HGTV become The Real Estate network? I used to love Design on a Dime, Curb Appeal, Devine Design, Design to sell, Small Space Big Style, Color Splash, and one of my all time favorites, Trading Spaces… what happened, people stopped loving to decorate? Seriously while our country is in a housing slump there are more shows about buying and selling? Something doesn’t add up… If anyone from HGTV is listening, please bring back some interior design shows! Until then, Pinterest will have to do!

Thanks for reading!

With love from Hollywood,
Kier
