Benefits of a Sauna Blanket

I love my sauna blanket, it is so good for you in so many ways. Here are some of the benefits of a sauna blanket. I first heard about these when I worked for Body Wrap LA. As an employee, I got to do the “wrap” (which is what e called the sauna blankets) for free anytime there was an opening or after hours when I was working, so I did it all the time and fell in love!

It Mimics Cardio:

There are a few benefits of using an infrared sauna blanket; first, it heats you from your core and increases your heart rate giving you some of the benefits of running or another cardiovascular activity. This is great for people recovering from an injury as it allows you to continue to get cardio in even if you can’t run/bike/etc like you’re used to. Or, if you’re just beginning your fitness journey, it gets you started on training your most important muscle, your heart. This allows you to have more stamina for your workouts and in-turn get better results more quickly. Additionally, one of the benefits of doing cardio is that even after you’re done, it boosts your metabolic rate throughout the day so you burn more calories even while resting. Because the blanket mimics cardio, you burn calories just from laying there sweating.

Increases Circulation/ Reduces Cellulite:

Sauna blankets also increase circulation which helps in muscle recovery, joint inflammation, and healing of wounds, sprains, tears, joints and even skin abrasions. Increased circulation can also help to reduce cellulite as cellulite is a buildup of fat due to a lack of circulation. It literally melts away cellulite- I have absolutely tried and tested this, and it works- BUT, it is like working out, you need to do it consistently, and in conjunction WITH working out. If you work out regularly and have a healthy diet and STILL have cellulite, try the sauna blanket 2-3 days a week for 6 weeks and thank me later!

Reduce Stress:

The far infrared sauna also helps manage cortisol levels helping you to reduce stress; one of the causes of holding onto unwanted weight. The overall sensation is calming and I kind of love that I can’t be on my phone because it allows me to just have time to think quietly. Of course, you can watch TV or read/play with your phone if you sneak one arm out, but I suggest you give the meditative aspect a try. I’ve noticed on days I use my sauna blanket I experience better sleep as well which also reduces stress and helps with weight loss.weight loss

Detoxify:

There is no doubt that sweating helps you to detox, but when you add in high cardiovascular function, increased circulation and heat to the mix, it really stirs up the toxins in your body and helps flush them out. Plus, since it’s so hot in the sauna blanket, you’ll be thirsty, and we all know drinking water helps to detoxify as well. The compounding benefits really add up.

Keep in mind to only set your sauna blanket to around 130 degrees Fahrenheit or 55 on the machine. Although it goes up to 70 degrees Celsius, at that temperature you actually don’t burn fat you just sweat a lot. This is great if you want to shed water weight and bloat in a pinch, but if you’re actually looking to burn fat, 55 Celsius is optimal.
