True Food Kitchen:
Recently a True Food Kitchen opened up in Boca Town Center and it’s amazing. If you aren’t fmiliar with TFK already, you’re about to be. True Food Kitchen is built upon the philosophy that food should make you feel better — not worse — and you shouldn’t have to sacrifice taste to live a healthier lifestyle.
“A health-driven, seasonal restaurant merging nutrient-rich ingredients with a flavor-forward menu that rotates regularly to let guests experience great-tasting ingredients at the peak of their freshness. The open kitchen brings guests closer to the culinary craft while showcasing that there’s nothing secret about the way we prepare our dishes.” –TFK
Drinks:
The selection of wine, (many organic) is impressive and their list of local beers would satisfy the most discerning of hop-heads. The seasonal cocktails are made using fresh-pressed fruit and vegetable juices paired with organic spirits, the only thing they could improve would be to do-away with plastic straws of course and perhaps switch to bamboo, metal, or glass. I will say that their take-out containers are bio degradable though which is a great step in the right direction.
Special Diets:
Jacques and I eat pretty much everything but we try to be mindful of how much meat/seafood we eat as it’s not good for the environment. Thankfully most if not all of TFK’s food is sourced locally, humanely, and naturally. On top of that they have options for all types of diets, sensitivities and prefrences. Gluten free? Check. Dairy free? Check. Vegan? Check!
Health Benefits:
TFK is the Brainchild of Dr Weil, a doctor who specializes in and litterally wrote the book on eating to live healthier by reducing inflamation.
If you know anything about inflamation you know chronic inflammation is the root cause of many serious illnesses – including heart disease, many cancers, and Alzheimer’s disease. Inflammation on the surface of the body is known as local redness, heat, swelling and pain. It is the cornerstone of the body’s healing response, bringing more nourishment and more immune activity to a site of injury or infection. But when inflammation persists or serves no purpose, it damages the body and causes illness. Stress, lack of exercise, genetic predisposition, and exposure to toxins (like secondhand tobacco smoke) can all contribute to such chronic inflammation, but dietary choices play a big role as well. Learning how specific foods influence the inflammatory process is the best strategy for containing it and reducing long-term disease risks. (source)
No, seriously. Not only is the food formulated by Dr. Weil to be anti inflamitory, but it tastes amazing.
The Food:
I started off with a chicken soup which was Phenominal! It definitly had a kick to it which I love and it tasted so fresh!
Then we shared the Wild Caught Albacore Tataki which was delightlful and also spicy!
Next, I got the Grilled fish and grass fed steak tacos. I decided to get one of each to try and I could hardly tell you which was better but in my opinion, the steak was slightly tastier!
Jacques got the turkey burger and wasn’t blown away by it.
We finished with the flourless chocolate cake with vegan ice cream and the squash pie with coconut cream whipped topping (don’t know official names). I personally don’t like pumpkin pie but if you do, you’ll love the squash pie. I was obsessed with the flourless checkolate cake as it was partially molten and that’s my favorite!
The Service:
We went before TFK Boca was officially open, a friends and family weekend and although the staff was still learning, I was really impressed with how well they knew their stuff. Everyone was extremely accomodating and had good knowledge of the ingredients and flavor profiles of the food/drinks.
All in all, I was blown away with this place. I really want to go for brunch and try that menu, I just know it’ll be amazing! If you’re local or you live near a True Food Kitchen and haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend you try it out!
Thank you for reading!
