My MJ Honey Spots, The Best of Hollywood.

When I started to see a few other bloggers posting their honey spots I was intrigued, so when Marc Jacobs Honey asked me to join in on the fun, I knew I’d keep mine Hollywood local. I live in here in Hollywood, and when I was a little girl I always wanted to live here, it was one of my dreams, and now it’s a dream come true. Some people think of Hollywood as dirty, but they just don’t know where to go.. I love old movie stars, I love seeing The Hollywood Sign when I run errands, I love walking out of my place onto the stars on the sidewalk and I love the Hollywood glam that is infused into this little community. So, I’d love to share with you my Hollywood #MJHoneySpots, this is the place dreams come true after all…

For example, in my first photo, Blo Hollywood my local blowdry bar has large pink canvas prints of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn on the walls and during your blow-out they serve pink champagne to you (on the weekends). Those little touches of glam give Blo Hollywood a little something extra, and I can’t help but go at least twice a month for some pampering. Laura is amazing, and Marina is the extension pro!

In Photo two, AV Nightclub is a swanky and luxurious club that transforms into a raging party Friday- Monday. My “day Job” is that I actually work at AV, but if I didn’t, it would still make this list. AV has live performances, celebrities and dancers that make men melt, then harden, then reach into their wallets to buy parades of champagne.. not to mention acrobats that deliver large format bottles of Dom Perignon, Crystal and Ace of Spades from the ceiling to the table. The space is small and intimate which allows the door to remain tight and selective of who gets in, so you can party in privacy; only surrounded by your peers, and not those in a lower social class- so to speak.

In my third photo, Cleo is one of my favorite restaurants ever. It’s a Mediterranean tapas style spot with lots of small shared plates and delightful mixology. One thing I love about Cleo is that every place setting is unique, the silverware and plates and candle holders are all different so it’s kind of fun to see what you’ll get each time. Make sure you make a reservation as to not get stuck in the front area, as you won’t get the full effect. Favorites from the menu include, tuna tartar – the best I’ve ever had, but ask the server to mix it for you.. The Hanger Steak- it’s small with only about 5-8 bites per serving but served with rosemary and sea salt fingerling potatoes- you don’t need the dipping sauce, just let the meat and potatoes speak for themselves, you’ll love what they say. Also try the Brussels sprouts, just do it. And the baba ganoush is better than the hummus, just try them both if you don’t believe me.

Photo four is from Katsuya Hollywood, designed by STARK, it is slightly wild and eclectic, and I especially love those acrylic blocks with sushi knives inside! The service is generally amazing, the bartenders have never made a bad drink- favorites from the bar include the Burning Mandarin, Kiwi Envy, and White Grapefruit Cosmo. If you Google images of Katsuya you can see every celebrity under the sun leaving the place as TMZ actually owns a piece of the sidewalk outside- just kidding, but they seem to be permanently affixed there. On the Menu, get the baked crab hand rolls, the yellowtail sashimi with jalepeno, baked black cod, and spicy tuna with crispy rice! I also like to get rolls with soy paper instead of seaweed- Katsuya will do this with any roll if you ask.

In photo five, Arclight Hollywood is the only place I ever like to see movies now. Often the front of the iconic Cinerama Dome is red carpet laden and adorned with stars and flashbulbs for a premier of a movie or television series, but when it’s not, it’s the best theatre to see an action film in. Even when a premier isn’t going on you’re likely to see celebs here, and in the main hall they have display cases with real props and wardrobe from new movies.. Join the Arclight rewards program to get discounts and $1 off when you buy your tickets online. Arclight has assigned seating so even when I’m rushing we won’t miss out on a great seat because it’s pre-reserved. However, if you arrive more than 5 minutes late to your movie they wont let you in so there aren’t distractions in the crucial first scene because Arclight doesn’t have 20 minutes of previews, only 5. If you do arrive late, they’ll happily swap out your ticket for another movie starting soon.. And they have real butter for the popcorn, but I don’t think it needs it, it’s so perfect the way it is. Also, there are 21+ movies thursday – sunday where you can drink in the theatre! And if you’re hungry, grab a bite at The Arclight Cafe, a full restaurant and bar in the main room. Menu favorites include the Caprese Salad, Angel Hair Pomodoro, and grilled salmon, and Roger loves the chicken and black bean sweet corn tamale. PS. you get points for your purchases at the restaurant and bar too, so don’t forget to tell your server to add your points so you can get your free movie tickets or discounted snacks!

Photo six is of the magnificent Roosevelt Hotel pool, it’s very exclusive, clean and always packed with beautiful faces and bodies. Get there very early, look amazing, and bring a lot of cash because it’s expensive. The service isn’t great most days, but tip your server in the first round and she’ll remember you. The best part about this pool is that it’s huge, literally a hundred people could swim in it and have space- something a mermaid like me loves.

Photo seven is Off Vine, located yep, right off Vine Street. It’s an old house that was in a few fires and rebuilt and has a fake shark coming out of the roof- the only thing that really survived the last fire, so of course, they kept it (top left of the photo). The brunch includes bottomless mimosas and little cinnabunnettes- tiny adorable cina-buns.. you’re welcome.

The last photos are from The W Hotel Hollywood, one of my sanctuaries. The W is not only stunning, but the manager Bobby is such a great guy, the staff is so nice, the rooms are so luxurious, and the little store is the cause of a lot of impulse buys for me.. Sunday nights they have live Jazz in The Livingroom (The lobby bar), and they even show the games on a large projector screen in The Station (The outside part of The Livingroom).

Honey by Marc Jacobs is a sunny delicious floral – energetic and alluring, with a sparkling, golden touch. The perfect mix of brightness and warmth. The fragrance energizes with the freshness of green pear brightened with a splash of fruity punch and juicy mandarin. At the heart of the fragrance is orange blossom, a note of sparkling femininity that mingles with nectars of honeysuckle and peach. Honey, vanilla, and smooth woods dry down to a warm, golden base.
