Style Challenge: The Fourth of July
As an American fashionista I am always looking for an excuse to get cutesy and themed and what better day than the Fourth of July!? I decided to show you guys two ways to do Independence Day; a casual look and a glam look. For the glam look BCBGeneration sent me this amazing Hepburn Bag and asked me to style it as if I were going to have a beach picnic. Gingham, eyelet, raffia and chambray just scream America (circa the 1950’s) to me.. and I was inspired by the name of the bag, “Hepburn”, and knew it deserved some class and glamour worthy of Audrey’s approval. I opted for a big hat, red lips, a vintage vibe, and of course Tiffany & Co. shades as a subtle tribute to the starlet’s most famous role as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. My favorite part about this bag though, is that it’s so structured. Raffia and straw bags can look sloppy but this bag is structured and reminds me of this Dolce & Gabbana version. I brought a big beach tote as well because once something gets sandy it’s sandy for a while- so if anything got sandy I tossed it into the beach bag instead of getting sand in my pretty Hepburn Bag. Oh, and how perfect are these Dolce & Gabbana gingham wedges?! I got mine at Marshall’s- I know I couldn’t believe it! They were still pretty spendy, but a great deal for D&G… I found a couple pairs left on Ebay if you just have to have them!
For the casual look, I wore my American flag shorts you saw at Coachella– and my favorite Chambray top again. No fuss hair and no makeup at all, easy sandals and this bad-ass Celine inspired tote kept my Hepburn bag safe and clean and had extra room for a sweater and more. We were biking in Santa Monica and for that, you need to make sure you’re not wearing anything that can get caught in the chain, and flat shoes (for safety). I know you know how much I love heels, so to dress this look up a little, I opted for sandals that are rhinestone embellished.
P.S. Thursday Friday Giveaway coming soon, in the mean time, enter to win the OPI Couture de Minnie Collection! (2 winners!)
