Casual Vegas

I feel like vegas is the place where you have full right to wear sequins, bright colors, glitter and beading at any given time. I knew we were going to do a lot of walking so I wore these sandals from ZARA last year- these are one of those things that I wish I bought two of, (two pairs obviously, not two shoes hehe) they’re slightly wearing out and I wish I had a new pair in the wing. This little cross-body that I got as a gift from the Danielle Nicole event was the perfect topper, sleek, adorable and just the right size for my phone, lipgloss, ID and some cash. We walked through the cavernous Mandalay Bay to the Shark Reef Aquarium and really enjoyed ourselves. I was glad I wore flats- and like I’ve mentioned before- a shift dress is the perfect go-to when you need something comfy, pretty and easy- this one by MM couture has stunning bead work and was just too fitting for my “casual vegas” look which still required a touch of glitz and glam.

Mandalay Bay… A review.

I have to say, I am extremely disappointed with the Mandalay Bay hotel.  The service was appalling. First, they didn’t have the room we requested except for on a smoking floor- um, no thank you. So we ended up with two queen beds instead of the King size I always look forward to on vacations… They should have offered some kind of gift due to this huge inconvenience, but nothing. Then we got to the room and realized we forgot something in the car at Valet and asked if they could grab it for us, they said no, and we had to be down there, so we asked if they could pull the car up, and again they needed us to be there to present the ticket in person- very annoying. Later in our stay we called down to see if we could extend our stay- they told us we couldn’t do that over the phone and needed to come down- (Why does this hotel even have phones if you have to go down for everything??) So we went down and guess what?? Their computer system was down- great. The next day we waited 30 minutes for valet. Then we went down to try to extend our stay another night- their system was down again… so we told them we’d just settle it in cash- they quoted us $110 more than they had the night before over the phone- so we asked why, and of course he said, oh actually, you’re right- good thing we had checked the night before.. The room service left an opened jar of mayo on the nightstand, as if we were saving it…? Finally checking out we called the bell desk, and they informed us it’d be an hour wait- no thanks, we grabbed our own bags- the valet pulled up and helped with one bag, then hinted for a tip twice, only to run off after receiving it to leave us there with 4 bags to load. I will NEVER stay there again. I stayed at the Tropicana last time for Magic and their service was impeccable especially for a hotel most would disregard- or try Cosmo- they set the new standard- or if you really want to feel like a queen, if you want to feel like the hotel you’re at values your business, stay at the Wynn. The Wynn is one of my happy places, if you ever stay there you’ll understand. And after staying there, this Mandalay Bay service is just unacceptable.

With love from Hollywood,
Kier

  1. Such a cute dress! I have wondered about staying at the Mandalay Bay resort… we have only been there for the pool :) The Hard Rock was an amazing stay, even though it is off the strip, the hotel, pool and staff were amazing!
